Hey there, I'm Richard
I'm a product management leader with 15+ years of experience in HealthTech and AI, passionate about building products that solve real problems.
My journey in product management began over 15 years ago, and I've had the privilege of working with incredible teams across organizations ranging from startups to those with $500M+ in revenue. Throughout my career, I've focused on leading cross-functional teams to deliver products that make a meaningful impact.
Most recently, I founded Vetta, an AI-driven hiring platform that's challenging the status quo in recruitment. Our #UnshitifyHiring content series has resonated with many who share our vision for a better hiring process. Before that, I led AI/ML/NLP initiatives at IQVIA, where I coordinated enterprise AI delivery across engineering, data science, and compliance teams.
My approach to product
I believe that great products are built at the intersection of user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. My approach to product management is guided by a few core principles:
- User-centered design - Understanding the problems users face deeply before jumping to solutions
- Empathetic listening - Focusing on truly understanding others rather than just preparing to respond, creating space for deeper insights and genuine connection
- Data-driven decisions - Using both quantitative and qualitative insights to guide product direction
- Cross-functional collaboration - Bringing together diverse perspectives to create better outcomes
- Iterative improvement - Continuously learning and refining based on real-world feedback
I've found that empathetic listening—truly seeking to understand before being understood—is perhaps the most underrated skill in product management. When we listen to understand rather than to respond, we create space for deeper insights, build trust with stakeholders, and ultimately make better product decisions that serve real human needs.
Beyond work
When I'm not thinking about products, I lead a pretty active life despite my MS diagnosis. I'm an avid runner and have completed multiple marathons—something I'm particularly proud of as it represents my commitment to not letting MS define my limitations. You might also find me riding my motorcycle on the scenic Connecticut roads, hiking local trails with my family and our dog, or perfecting my pour-over coffee technique at home.
I have a deep interest in Buddhism and spirituality, which helps me maintain perspective and balance in both my personal and professional life. I'm also passionate about cooking and experimenting with new recipes. And when I need to unwind, there's nothing like attending a live hard rock or metal show—the energy of live music is something I find incredibly rejuvenating.
